RIR is an estimate. Lower-effort entries use broad ranges and descriptions.
RPE
A subjective intensity scale that quantifies how hard an effort feels during exercise.
RIR
An estimate of how many additional repetitions could have been completed beyond a set.
At the end of the set, you estimate that about two more repetitions were possible. Record the effort alongside the weight and repetitions.
